Coventry City U18's put in a superb team performance to thrash Shrewsbury Town 4-0 in a pre-season fixture this morning.

The Sky Blues went into the game having won 2-1 at Coventry Sphinx on Tuesday and Johnson Harris who has scored four goals in the first three pre-season matches started along with Conor Thomas.

With first team manager Aidy Boothroyd watching on, City never let The Shrews settle.

They took the lead in the eighth minute when Johnson Harris had an initial shot blocked. The ball fell to Josh Ruffles who played the ball forwards to Harris who held off his marker before thumping home a left foot shot from seven yards.

Harris, Conor Thomas and Billy Daniels all kept the keeper busy before the Sky Blues added a second in the 19th minute.

Thomas played a peach of a thirty yard pass to Johnson Harris who
held off a marker before slotting past the keeper.

Twenty four minutes had gone before City's keeper Lee Burge had a touch of the ball and he was a spectator for the rest of the half as Harris had a 28th minute header disallowed for offside.

Josh Ruffles struck the bar with a 25 yard free kick before the half ended with another superb ball from Thomas picking out Jordan Willis on the right and Daniels having his crossed blocked.

Eighty eight seconds into the second half, Billy Daniels was not to be denied when he banged home from six yards for the third.

Luke Adams was another player having a fine game and in the 56th minute, after his low drive had won a corner, his header was hacked off the line.

Adams was the provider in the 66th minute when he crossed for Jamie Spencer to head in.

Making sure that Shrewsbury struggled to get the ball, City controlled proceedings to win very comfortably.
