Coventry City U18's were unlucky not to have recorded their first victory of the season at Birmingham City.
At Birmingham's Wast Hills training ground in front of big crowd,City defended well early on with Neil Collett making a fine save to stop Stephen Milojevic from ten yards in the 17th minute.
Kieran Fitzharris was a live wire in midfield, racing through to win a corner after Shaun Jeffers had a 30th minute shot blocked.
Two minutes into the second half,a lick of paint stopped Fitzharris from giving the Sky Blues the lead after his twenty yard free kick grazed the cross bar.
Every City player played their part in ensuring City kept pressing.
Jermaine Grandison crossed in the 69th minute but Jeffers could not keep his shot down.
With fifteen minutes left of a half totally dominated by Coventry,Ashley Cain got down the right and crossed for Reis Ashraf to get in a header which Lyness did well to get to.
Birmingham's only attack of the second half came in the 84th minute but Collett made a point blank save from a Jamie Sheldon shot.
City went straight down the other end. Grandison knocked the ball down for Marshall to fire over from eight yards.
The Sky Blues pressed until the end but could not find the net to get the three points that this performance deserved.
