City had more shots than Southend but the finishing of the League Two side was more clinical and speaking to the CT, Stevens said: "We are obviously disappointed but we have to give Southend a lot of credit.
"We knew they were a good team and we simply didn't manage the game and the conditions which were very well, well enough on the night.
