Coventry City U18's put on a highly entertaining display to beat Brentford 5-2 in an Inter-Divisional fixture.

Back at the Alan Higgs Centre, the Sky Blues did not get the start they wanted when Brentford took the lead after five and a half minutes through a very deflected Manzell Moore shot which beat Alex Gott on his left.

The Bees attacked once again and Gott made a great save with his legs to concede a corner before Courtney Baker-Richardson countered at the other end. Nik Tzanev blocked and James Maddison fired the loose ball over.

Gott dived to his right to push away for a tenth minute corner and from another attack, a minute later, Courtney Senior struck Gott's right hand post.

Tzanev again thwarted Baker-Richardson who had been sent clear and palmed away a 15th minute Forrester shot for a corner.

Maddison sent over a free kick five minutes later and a Maddison corner was headed on by Kyle Barnett but Lewis Lavendel was back on the line and cleared.

Gott made a good save just before the half mark but in the 37th minute, City were level thanks to a bit of magic from James Maddison who cut over before un-leashing an unstoppable shot from the D past Tzanev.

Four minutes later and Forrester was denied by Tzanev who, then had his left post rattled by a clip from Baker-Richardson in the 44th minute.

With Neil MacFarlane amongst those watching on, City defended one early attack from Moore before winning a 50th minute corner and another from a Ryan Smith cross.

In the 53rd minute, City went in front in this highly entertaining affair when Ryan Smith attacked and set up the first of two shots that were both blocked. The ball went loose and Dion Kelly Evans was on to it and smashed the ball into the net.

On the hour mark, City provided the move of the match. Devon Kelly Evans got the ball up to Baker-Richardson who superbly picked out James Maddison who finished smartly to put City 3-1 up.

Tzanev saved with his feet before Greg Rioch sent on Wales U17's international George Thomas for the last fourteen minutes.

Ryan Smith who had taken a knock from a hefty challenge had to be replaced with ten minutes to go by Jordan Shipley who made it four in the 85th minute when he scored from a Baker-Richardson through ball in a game where some of City's play was a joy to watch.

Moore scored again in stoppage time from fourteen yards but another attack from City and James Maddison flicked past Tzanev to complete his hat-trick and give the Sky Blues an excellent 5-2 win.
