Coventry City Academy Boss Richard Stevens has said that his side were excellent during their 2-1 FA Youth Cup win against Charlton Athletic last night.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Stevens said: “The boys were excellent. "They represented themselves and the club unbelievably well – when they needed to work they worked, when they had to fight they fought and when they had to dig in they dug in.
“The pitch was in really good condition but it was soft which meant it was a difficult game to control possession but when we had to defend last night we defended.
"Everyone was strong and they headed and blocked and midfielder Callum Maycock was the best player on the pitch, in my opinion.
“I thought we were the better team in the first half when we were 2-0 up and in the second half we really had to dig in and absorb what they threw at us.”
