Coventry City manager Andy Thorn was pleased with City Reserves 4-0 victory over Oxford United yesterday.

Speaking to the CT about the win which saw goals for Gary McSheffrey, David Bell, Cody McDonald and Billy Daniels, Thorn said: “I couldn’t believe it.

“Gary McSheffrey and Billy Daniels both had shots in the game that took deflections and went in, which is nice.

“We could do with a slice of that on Saturday. But it was a good work out and scoring goals is always good for confidence.

“We had a strong side out and as long as everyone comes through in the next couple of days I should have almost everyone to pick from ahead of our game at Portsmouth.”

Lee Carsley also fielded a number of younger players and Thorn said about the likes of Courtney Richards, Josh Ruffels, Arron Phillips, Billy Daniels and Jordan Willis who all featured:“The lads did well and it was nice to be able to introduce the younger ones into it to give them the experience and to help toughen them up against men.”
