Coventry City U18's started off well but went down to a 3-0 defeat at home to Cardiff City.

With City boss Chris Coleman, Steve Ogrizovic and Frankie Bunn watching on, the Sky Blues played a good passing game in the opening 45 minutes.

The hard working Callum Wilson worked well alongside Robert Ogleby, who was not far wide when he threw his leg at a tenth minute long ranger from Nathan Cameron.

The striker who can run 100m in eleven seconds went even closer three minutes later with a left footed shot.

Again, Nathan Cameron controlled the defence well along with Jamie Greenway, who played wearing a bandage around his head, following a fourth minute clash.

This restricted the visitors to just one chance in the 43rd minute when Nathaniel Jarvis, headed over from six yards.

Greg Rioch's side who were without Connor Thomas who was on international duty with England U17's could have taken the lead two minutes after the restart when Luke Bottomer sent a twenty yard pile driver narrowly wide of the keeper's right hand post.

Jacob Blackwell missed from a Conor Gudger free kick in 57th minute.

Then suddenly out of nothing, Cardiff took the lead when Zac Evans got down the left and sent over a cross from 25 yards which went into the far corner of the net.

With fifteen minutes left, City conceded a free kick on the left and Nat Jarvis slid in to finish off the daisy cutter.

Two became three with in the 82nd minute when Nat Evans was brought down and referee Mr Fox awarded a penalty which Ibrahim Farah duly dispatched to compound a miserable second half.
