Coventry City U18's boss Greg Rioch has said that his side are up for the FA Youth Cup.
City have gone out of the competition at the third round stage for the last four years losing to Reading, Plymouth, Stoke and Leicester City last season and will now travel to Roots Hall to face Southend United on Wednesday December 15th after their Third Round tie tomorrow night was postponed.
"The FA Youth Cup is the competition we all look forward to and the boys are all fit and raring to go and vying for a place in the starting line-up," said Rioch to the CT.
"We want to go down there and get a result and hopefully get a home draw in the next round. But we know it will be a difficult game because Southend are a good outfit.
"I watched them play against Brentford recently and they are very well organised, have good players in key areas and are managed by Ricky Duncan, who has managed Cambridge United.
"There can't be any room for complacency because they are a match for any academy side."
City have not played for a fortnight thanks to an an service day and a postponement of the home game against Watford last Saturday and Rioch commented: "The boys have not played a competitive game since November 20 because of frozen pitches but we have a match at MK Dons this Saturday and hopefully that will be an opportunity for the lads to open their legs out and get rid of a few cobwebs to set them up nicely for the cup game.
"We played an 11 v 11 on the all weather pitch the other day but there's nothing like playing a proper game."
