Decisions Didn't Help Us - McSheffrey

Coventry Sphinx manager Danny McSheffrey felt his side did not get the decisions from the referee during their 2-0 FA Cup defeat at Hinckley United on Saturday.

Speaking to the Coventry Sphinx official website, McSheffrey said: "I think we approached the game in the correct manner with positive preparation.

"We started the brighter of the 2 sides
having Steve Evans goal bound effort blocked then Josh Ruff and Adam Knibbs were both upended in the penalty area within a matter of 5 minutes and the referee decided not to give the stone wall decisions in our favour.

"From that point,
Hinckley started to take control of the game and then we never really looked like winning.

"They had a few chances
squandered before a controversial decision by a linesman claiming that a ball crossed the line in a scramble that our players were adamant didn't, though having seen photo evidence it makes me feel more comfortable that the decision was correct but to top this of, Gavin Strachan was adjudged to handle the ball in the scramble.

"t's always a hard mountain to climb going away to a team three leagues higher but when you don't get any of the 3 big BIG decisions in your favour then you are always backs to the wall.

"Hinckley however deserved the win and I was proud of
every single squad member on the day who collectively gave their all which I can ask no more of.

"We played the last aeven
minutes with ten men when Adam Knibbs tweaked a hamstring and Hinckley ran on to get their second of the game when we were pushing on.

"Jamie McAteer nearly grabbed a late
consolation which would've made the four minutes injury time very tense but only for it to hit one of our own players on the Hinckley goal line which summed up our day."
