Coventry Sphinx put in a Jeckyl and Hyde performance to lose 3-2 at home to Bardon Hill Sports this afternoon.
On a wet afternoon at Sphinx Drive, Luke Hopkins side got off to a great start in the fifth minute when Piggon attacked down the right and had a shot hacked off the line by Tozer. The ball was cleared to the centre circle and there was Tom Bates to send an audacious lob into the net.
Piggon won a corner in the tenth minute and Sphinx had another ten minutes later.
In the 23rd minute, Tom Bates had a free kick which led to a throw and fell for Piggon to drive wide of the far post.
Sphinx continued to press and in the 27th minute, they had a second goal when Luke Downes raced onto a throughball and rounded the keeper to score.
Bardon won a corner and in the 32nd minute, Dawson struck O'Neill's right hand post with a twenty yarder.
Blythe fired over in the 35th minute and McBride fired over six minutes before a good half ended.
Sphinx did not need half-time as it gave Bardon Hill time to re-group and replan and two minutes into the second half and Jamie Disney made the most of some Mickey Mouse defending to bang home from close range.
In the 67th minute, the visitors were allowed to level from a Keenan corner which was deflected into the net by Tozer and with eleven minutes left and Bardon took the win when Fowkes back-heeled the ball past O'Neill on his right.
