The first game watched by a good crowd at Sphinx Drive saw a Former Sphinx Over 35s All Stars draw 2-2 with a Federal Express X1 managed by Steve Masters.

The Sphinx Over 35's fielded a team which included the likes of Sphinx greats such as Jim McNulty, Shaun Delahunty, Ady Gregory, Keith Marlow, Joe Fletcher who converted a penalty with Joao Jardim getting the second.

Then Ashcroft, who admitted to being 'over the moon' at the turn out and the way things had gone, was in charge of a Sphinx Select team that included current first team manager Danny McSheffrey against a side managed by Paul Charnley who succeeded Ashcroft as manager.
