Coventry Sphinx crashed out of the Birmingham Senior Cup with a 7-0 home loss to Redditch United.
The Southern League Premier Division side arrived at Sphinx Drive with a strong side and got straight into a changed Sphinx side.
Ashley Sammons was in great form and the Redditch number ten went close in the ninth minute and forced Sphinx keeper Tommy Hindmarsh into a one handed save in the 23rd minute, seconds before he race through and finished smartly to give the visitors the lead.
Hindmarsh pulled off a tremendous double save in the 32nd minute before George Carline hit the post.
Three minutes later and Redditch were awarded a free kick some twenty five yards out. Up stepped Ashley Sammons who brilliantly curled the ball into the net.
Hindmarsh made two superb saves in the 50th minute but in the 56th minute, Redditch had a third when Simeon Maye headed in a cross from the left.
In the 61st minute, Redditch had a fourth through Jamie Spence and two minutes later, it was five when Sammons completed his hat-trick when he rounded Hindmarsh.
Gio Dainty played well for Sphinx and he was so unlucky when his 70th minute header was fumbled onto the cross bar by Bradley Catlow and seconds later, his curler from the edge of the area hit the crossbar.
With fourteen minutes left, Liam Spink nipped in for a sixth goal and with seven minutes left, Ashley Sammons scored his fourth and Redditch's seventh to compound a miserable night for Sphinx.
