Coventry Sphinx Football Club is delighted to announce that it has, this week, been officially granted The FA Charter Standard Adult Club award by the Football Association.
The FA Charter Standard Clubs programme was established in February 2001 and helps clubs to improve standards of coaching, administration, player development and child protection.
The award is presented to those clubs who have raised their standards in these areas and lead the field in promoting best football practice, both on and off the pitch, in grassroots football.
On receiving the news Club Chairman Neil Long said "This is a fantastic achievement that brings us into line with the standards set by the Juniors some years ago and ensures the same best practice across our entire membership."
He continued "I have always been very proud of the standards that we set as a club and achieving this award confirms that we really do offer the best possible environment for our players to develop and achieve."
"The FA Charter Standard Award will show potential and current players and parents that we are a club who are well-run and have the players' best interests at the forefront of our objectives. Although we have worked hard to achieve this award we will now be looking to progress onto a higher status over the coming months. This award also shows potential fund donors that we are a club who will not misuse funds and ensure that it is put into the right areas of the club and players' development"
Lee Evans, recently appointed by Long to help with the Business Development of the club, said "Sphinx has always been a very well run club with a great reputation and for that to be acknowledged by the authorities is a real boost. Achieving this standard will provide a tremendous springboard for us as we look forward to a period of development which we hope will create a legacy on and off the pitch which can be enjoyed for years to come."
"It will be an exciting summer for the club and this news is the perfect start. We want to match the buzz that Danny McSheffrey is creating on the training ground with a programme of development that will position Sphinx at the heart of our local community. We have a lot to offer not only to those who live in our corner of Coventry but also to the City as a whole."
