Sphinx Lose At Home

Last updated : 16 September 2010 By Randy Forder

The home crowd at Sphinx Drive must have been wondering if they were watching the same team that knocked out Sutton Coldfield in the F.A. Cup so bad was the performance against Heath Hayes.

"For the first 15 minutes of the game, Sphinx dominated possession and played some good football. Adam Knibbs had a good chance to score but chose to pass instead of having a strike on goal. Jack Cudworth had a shot well parried by the keeper but with no follow up another chance went begging.

Things were to change after 15 minutes when Sphinx whole  demeanour to the game changed the passing went, there was no     work rate, no tracking of players etc etc.

Heath Hayes got their first goal on 28 minutes when Danny Waple was left unmarked in the box to slot home with ease, it was soon 2-0 when 5 minutes later Carl Wallace was allowed to much time to get a shot off from just
outside the box which cannoned in off the post.

If things could not get any worse for Sphinx Aaron Donaldson was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 50th minute to give Sphinx more of a up hill struggle.

Sphinx may of had the better of play in the 2nd half and got a consolation goal through Kyle Rhodes on 77 minutes but the truth is that last night was probably one of the worst displays seen at Sphinx Drive for a long time.

With the on looking Brocton contingent on a scouting mission they must be rubbing their hands and looking forward to Saturdays meeting in the F.A. Vase.
