Coventry Sphinx again played well but had nothing to show for it after going down to a 2-0 home defeat to Lye Town.

Robbie Banks fielded a side with Francino Francis making his debut and on a blowy afternoon, his side started well with two efforts and a tenth minute corner that had to be hacked off the line by Dan Flowers.

Neil Collett saved from Chaponda and Ben Wilkins blazed over from ten yards in the 24th minute.

Sphinx attacked and with Pond out of his goal, Tom Muldoon curled agonisingly wide.

Evitts fired at Collett and volleyed over in the 36th minute.

Lewis Rankin was sent on for the second half and was soon involved winning a free kick before Collett pushed a shot over for a corner.
In the 57th minute, Francis headed on a Thomson cross and
Blenkinsopp got in a shot which saw the ball bounce off Pond's right hand post and go out for a corner.

Seven minutes later and Lye took the lead when a free kick was headed home.

A second goal for Lye followed in the 68th minute when Kalum Evitts found space on the right and fired an unstoppable shot into the net.

Sphinx went to four up front but were unable to get back in the game and went down to defeat.
