Coventry Sphinx are out of the Birmingham Senior Cup after a 2-1 home defeat to Banbury United.
At a soggy Sphinx Drive, Luke Hopkins side started brightly winning three corners.
Piggon and McBride both had chances for a Sphinx side who had the better of the play in the opening thirty minutes.
Four minutes into the second half and Sphinx won a corner. The ball came over and there was Lewis Rankin who stooped low to head into the net from close range.
Rankin hit the woodwork in the 66th minute and McBride fired just wide but The Puritans broke and Zak McEachran got on the end of a cross to score from six yards.
Leam Youwards thumped the woodwork for Banbury and in their next attack, McEachran got through on the right and thump a shot past Scott Dutton and send Sphinx out of the cup.
