The midfielder had two spells at the club as well as a time at Bedworth United and was found dead on July 12th aged 37.
Sphinx Chairman Neil Long said in his programme notes: "Pongo had an association with Sphinx going back 15 years in two spells as a player. He was one of the most consistent and fully committed players ever to pull on a Sphinx shirt. He was a true legend to everyone who knew him on and off the pitch.'
'I would like to offer, on behalf of the football club, our deepest sympathies to his family and friends and all who knew Pongo. He will be sadly missed."
Covsupport News Service's Kev Monks said: "Pongo was a midfield battler. "As soon as he put a Sphinx shirt on, you knew you would get 100% effort and commitment from him. He never gave up and was the sort of player every side wants. "On behalf of all at Covsupport News Service, I offer our condolences to his family and friends."
The funeral takes place at St John The Devine Church in Willenhall, Coventry on Wednesday July 29th at 11am followed by a cremation at Canley at 12.45pm. There will be a gathering at the Sphinx Club afterwards.
