Coventry Sphinx booked their place in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round with a 1-0 replay victory over Bridgnorth Town.
Sphinx started well against a side managed by former Coventry City striker Leigh Mills with Jack Cudworth heading wide from a second minute corner.
Danny McSheffrey's side won two more corners before Jack Cudworth forced Nash into a superb reflex one handed save when he found space inside the area in the ninth minute.
Evans fired over for the visitors but Sphinx with Adam Knibbs always a threat and the impressive Liam Kay and James Holmes controlling the defence, the Sphinx support in a bumper crowd felt that it was only a matter of time before Sphinx took the lead.
They got their wish in the 26th minute when an initial corner eventually found Kelvin Phillips inside the area and the striker made no mistake to put Sphinx ahead.
It was a lead that was almost added to, two minutes later, when Holmes stormed down the left and delivered a cross that Phillips headed over.
In a well refereed match, Danny McSheffrey replaced Craig Goodbody at the break with Tom Muldoon and seconds after the restart, a run by Luke Hopkins saw him let rip with a shot that hit the bar.
Cudworth, Phillips and Adam Knibbs, all had chances as the home side looked for a second goal.
In stoppage time, Bridgnorth nearly sent the game into extra time when Ken Griffiths blazed over the bar but it was Sphinx who will face Sutton Coldfield Town at Sphinx Drive on Saturday September 11th (3pm kick off)
