Coventry Sphinx were beaten 3-2 at home by Atherton Collieries this afternoon in a home pre-season game.
The visitors from the North West Counties League opened the scoring through Paul Townsend and had a goal disallowed before Andy Walker converted a penalty.
The Collieries went three goals up in the second half before Sphinx hit back with a Paul Saunders goal and an own goal but the Lancashire side took the win.
Sphinx finish their pre-season campaign with a home game against Coventry City on Tuesday night. Kick off at Sphinx Drive is at 7pm.
