Coventry Sphinx snatched a last gasp draw with a stoppage time penalty against Biddulph Victoria.
On a wet, miserable afternoon at Sphinx Drive, the visitors started brightly and were ahead after fourteen minutes when Leigh Skelton sent the ball over from the right for James Marrau to slide in to score.
Marrau then curled wide as the Sphinx defence struggled to organise themselves.
Jamie McAteer headed wide from a free kick and Tom Muldoon had a shot deflected but in the 39th minute.
Sphinx conceded a free kick which was punished with a caution by referee Dave Humphries in what was not by any stretch of the imagination a dirty game, and when the ball came across the area, there was Leigh Skelton to head in.
Danny McSheffrey made two changes at the break due to injuries and one of those was Arron Donaldson who pulled one back for Sphinx, three minutes into the second half with a low drive from eighteen yards.
Both sides created chances before Sphinx raised their game with five minutes left. Substitute Dean Kimberlin hit a shot from inside the area which Heeps pushed over the bar for a corner.
They continued to attack and in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Kyle Rhodes was sent crashing inside the penalty area and a penalty was awarded.
Upstepped Callum Woodward who scored to earn Sphinx a draw.
On Tuesday night, Sphinx are at home to Coalville Town. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
