Sphinx Through In FA Vase

Coventry Sphinx are through to the FA Vase Second Round after beating Anstey Nomads 4-3 in an FA Vase First Round tie this afternoon.

Jamie McAteer opened the scoring for Danny McSheffrey's side in the third minute and this was followed by two goals from Luke Hopkins (13 & 14 mins) giving Sphinx a 3-0 lead at the interval.

Kyle Rhodes hit a fourth, two minutes into the second half before the visitors came back with three goals from James Edmonds (68 & 82) and Matt Penn (80), but could stop Sphinx from progressing.
