Coventry Sphinx Youth are through to the second round of the Birmingham County FA Midweek Youth Cup after a 4-1 win at Stratford Town.
Neil Moran's side had all the chances in the opening period but trailed to a 20th minute goal from Nathan Edgington who bundled home an Alistair Edwards corner.
It was only a matter of time before Sphinx did find the net and it came in the 57th minute on a cold night at Knights Lane when a superb run,cut inside and shot from man of the match Chris Wilson King flew into the net.
Stratford keeper Joe Lynskey made a double reaction save but could only watch as Sphinx took the lead in the 75th minute with a right footed pile driver from substitute Danny Loney.
Tom Milne crashed a long ranger against the bar but with three minutes left, Dave Freeman cut the ball back and it eventually fell for Scott McHugh to slet home for the third.
Sphinx boss Neil Moran, said that he was "well chuffed with the second half performance" and he was delighted when his son Andy sent a stinging right footed drive from twenty yards into the net, two minutes into stoppage time to complete a good night's work for his side.
Next Thursday,Sphinx are at home to Ellesmere Rangers in the FA Youth Cup with the winners facing Stratford Town or Sutton Coldfield.
