Coventry Sphinx's Youth team booked their place in the Midland Floodlit Youth League League Cup Quarter-Final with a 4-2 win over Hinckley United.
In a game switched to Sphinx Drive after two postponements, Sphinx were straight at the visitors and won five corners in the opening eight minutes.
However, they were caught on the hop in the eighteenth minute when Hinckley's number ten scored with a low drive.
Nigel Starkey's side got over this minor blip and were level ten minutes later through Ryan Isherwood.
Sphinx continued to win more corners and force some good saves from the visiting keeper before Chris O'Shea broke through to put Sphinx ahead in the 39th minute.
The Hinckley keeper grabbed the ball on the line from Sphinx's 15th corner of the first half in the 43rd minute but could do nothing when Danny Fraser let fly with a stunning twenty yard drive which soared into the net, twelve minutes into the second half.
With eleven minutes of the match left, Brad Taylor was on hand to tap home a fourth goal and with four minutes left, Hinckley scored a second goal but it was Coventry Sphinx who will deservedly take on Romulus at home next Thursday night.
