Windsor Garage sponsored Coventry Sphinx are through to meet FA Academy League Group B side MK Dons in the FA Youth Cup after a 3-2 victory at Sphinx Drive.
Visitors Sutton Coldfield Town were ahead after thirty one seconds when Dan Westwood sent a stunning free kick from 26 yards high into the net but Neil Moran and Steve Shea's side were soon level thanks to Dave Freeman hooking in a cross,
The crowd and the FA.com cameras had a cracking third goal to enjoy in the 22nd minute when Danny Loney put Sphinx ahead with a stunning right footed volley which flew over the head of Adam Shelley in the Sutton goal.
Sutton did have their chances and in the 32nd minute,a delightful stop by Dave Allen prevented Matt Hunt from scoring and it was Hunt who was first to the resulting which Andy Wilson King hacked off the line.
Allen denied Westwood four minutes into the second half before Sphinx started to regain their grip on the match.
Chances were not taken by the Sphinx strikers whilst at the other end, the visiting fans sensed it was not to be their night when Nathan Mould struck a post in the 68th minute and six minutes later, George Ford got through only to fire inches wide of Allen's right hand post.
In the 83rd minute, Sphinx went further in front thanks to skipper Andy Moran scoring from inside the area. The lead lasted three minutes when Dan Walton tapped in to set up a grandstand finish.
As we reached stoppage time, Sutton substitute Alex Leonard headed against the bar but the ball stayed out and Sphinx booked their place against MK Dons in Round One.
