Coventry Sphinx were in seventh heaven after a 7-1 away Midland Alliance League victory at Cradley Town.
On a snow-covered pitch at Beeches View Avenue, Sphinx attacked from the start. Kyle Rhodes and Adam Kinder had chances in the opening seconds but in the ninth minute and two minutes after they had a goal disallowed, Leroy Murphy got down the right and centred for Rob Radcliffe to score from close range.
Sphinx had been told before the game to show their character and this they did by taking the game to the side bottom of the league.
They were level in the 16th minute, when Adam Kinder was pulled down and Callum Woodward stroked home the resulting penalty.
Three corners followed before Josh Ruff fired Danny McSheffrey's side into the lead with a 28th minute free kick into the bottom corner from twenty yards.
Five minutes later, it was three when Josh Ruff got to the far post and smashed home a Kinder cross,
The provider turned poacher in the 38th minute when he cut inside to fire a close range shot which went in between the keeper and post.
Two minutes into added time at the end of a first half which Sphinx through their own hard work and effort, dominated, there was a fifth for the Sphinx support to enjoy when a Woodward cross from the right was headed in on the line by Adam Kinder.
To their credit, Cradley continued to battle but in the 56th minute, Adam Kinder completed his hat-trick firing home from another Woodward cross.
Woodward sent a 66th minute shot against the right hand post before good saves from Kimberlin and Goodbody ensued.
Callum Woodward struck the post again in the 73rd minute and five minutes later was celebrating his second of the match and Sphinx's seventh when he blasted home from ten yards.
The chances for Sphinx continued with Josh Ruff, who had a fine game, having a goal disallowed, Chris Wilson King hitting the bar and Tom Muldoon having a shot pushed over before the referee blew the full time whistle to signal an excellent result for Sphinx, who move up to joint sixth in the Alliance table.
