2-Tone Central Opens

2-Tone Central opened its black and white doors tonight for the first time.

The museum, cafe and venue is the brainchild of Coventry Music Historian Pete Chambers, who was quoted by Lynval Golding as being the "Eighth Special"

The museum, which is based at Coventry University, will no doubt bring back many memories of when Coventry was the in music place to be and there was a lot of local goodwill and support from 2-Tone fans plus members of the bands to match the hard work put in by 2-Tone Central directors to bring this ambitious project into being.

2-Tone heroes including Pauline Black, Lynval Golding, Neville Staple, Horace Panter, Roddy Byers, Gaps Henderson, Aitch Bembridge as well as soul legend Ray King were in attendance with invited fans from Coventry and all over the country.

Speeches were given by Brody Swain, Peter Chambers and Lynval Golding before the venue was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Coventry Brian Kelsey.

The venue is not just 2-Tone and bands of that genre, is will be a venue for the up and coming bands of Coventry & Warwickshire.
