4th of July Celebrations At Coventry Market

American Independence Day party at Coventry Market, organised by Lisa Hollins and Michelle Conway of "American Imports". To celebrate the new name of American Imports to "4th of July". The new website will be launched to coincide with the 4th of July. www.4thofjuly.co.uk.

Come along Saturday 4th of July 2009 10am -2pm and join in the celebrations.

A number of stallholders will be dressing up in American themed Fancy Dress and /or will decorate their stall in red white and blue..

Stalls will be promoting American products, records, clothes, make up, hamburgers, etc.


American themed fancy dress competition open to Adults and Children. The winners to be one girl, one boy and one adult. There will be prizes for the winners of a genuine Morgan Silver Dollar from the Wild West, dated between 1886 and 1890 each and tickets to either a Coventry Jets Game, Coventry Crusaders Game or Coventry Blaze Family Ticket.

For younger children there's a colouring competition running throughout the day linked with the Roundabout. With a chance to Win a year's worth of free rides on the Roundabout.

Oompha Lumpa from Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, around all day giving out balloons and creating photos opportunities for the children.

Spin the wheel games, with small prizes, From the American Stall

Tasting sessions on the "American imports stall" where you can try out all sorts of yummy things.

A jelly bean competition where you can guess the number of beans in the jar.

And more small competitions being organised by individual traders.

There will be an opportunity to meet with some of the players from the Coventry jets American Football, and members of Crusader's basketball team. We even have a Coventry Blaze ice hockey player coming to join us.

The Mini crew (Cheerleaders) will be appearing to do a set in the middle of the Market.

The Lord Mayor is also making an appearance, as the federation have £500 to present to the Lord Mayor's fund alongside a presentation from the Rotary Club

10.00 opening of festivities;

Oopha Lumpa arrives for the day, starting with balloons given away to children

10.15 The Lord Mayor Arrives (only here 10.15 -11am)

Meets and chats with owners and customers.

Is presented with £500 from the traders and from the rotary club

The announcement to be made about the change of name to 4th of July on stall 180 currently know as American Imports Ltd., with a new sign on the stall and the Lord Mayor officially opening the stall by cutting the ribbon.

10.45am Start of Yankee Doodle dandy music show.

We will be running a spin to win competition from the double stall next to ours (this will be the base for the day) this is Free with American goodies as prizes. This will run with the American Stall to all our customers getting a chance to spin the wheel with every purchase. (minimum spend applies)

Colouring Competition running for all roundabout customers, (to have the pictures to take away and colour and return by the following Saturday 11th July.) Winner contacted then.

11.00 -11.15 Mini Crew Cheerleaders arrive; do a short set on centre stage. 11.30 Yankee doodle show short set.

12.00, Mini Crew Cheerleaders another short set.

12.30 - 1.30pm

The Blaze Ice Hockey Player, Crusaders Basketball Players, Jets American Football Players arrive to meet and greet the crowds, photo opportunities etc.

1.30pm

Fancy Dress competition judged the winner to be one girl, one boy and one adult. Prizes to be the Silver dollars and the Event Tickets

1.45pm

Prizes to be given out for the Winners, a prize for each Fancy Dress entrant.

2.30pm
