Alvis Sporting Out Of Telegraph Cup

Alvis Sporting Club from the MFL Division Two are out of the Coventry Telegraph Cup after losing 3-2 to Christ The King in a First Round game.

In the first ever competitive game under floodlights at Green Lane, Coventry Alliance Premier Division side Christ The King took the lead with a tenth minute penalty which was converted by Sean Kavangh.

Alvis levelled from a scramble in the area in the 28th minute and a minute in to the second half, they took the lead with a shot from inside the area.

In the 67th minute, there was a second penalty for Kings when a free kick was hand-balled and Sean Taggart slotted the resulting spot kick home.

Two minutes from time, Kings won the game when Sean Kavangh flicked a shot which wrong footed the keeper and went into the net and send them through to the next round.

In the other tie tonight, Atherstone Town beat Woods United 4-2.
