Coventry Jazz Festival Details

The dates for Coventry's 11th Jazz Festival have been announced, with an array of world class artists set to perform.

This year, the festival will return from 21st - 25th May 09 , and will see performances from some of the world's most renowned jazz artists, which include Maceo Parker, Robert Fripp & Theo Travis, Jacqui Dankworth, The Don Weller Big Band and Portico Quartet.

There'll also be performances from Empirical, The Neil Cowley Trio and Tim Garland Acoustic Trio , with more acts to be announced soon!

In 2009 we will be presenting music in several venues across the city, including The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry Cathedral and Taylor John's House.

This year organisers will be launching a free citywide public exhibition of iconic black & white jazz photography, taken over the last 10 years of the Coventry Jazz festival.

The images will be appearing in venues, bars, cafes and restaurants across the city from March leading up to the festival in May.

On Sunday 8th March, Marc Ribot will be performing at Taylor John's House as part of a pre Coventry Jazz Festival gig.

Marc Ribot is an avant-garde jazz guitarist and, to a lesser extent, singer, with a highly unique and recognisable style drawing on a number of influences including funk, Cuban music, soul and no wave.
