Death Neutralises Fifth Stage

The fifth stage of the Tour of Qatar was neutralised following the shock death last night of Belgian rider Frederiek Nolf.

The 22 year old Team Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator rider died of a suspected heart attack in his sleep in the team's hotel and the shocked riders decided to ride for 30km Al Kharaib to Doha after observing a minutes silence.

A silent and very sombre peleton completed the 30km in fifty five minutes and all 131 riders were awarded the same time at the finish in Doha.

The final stage tomorrow is a 121km race from Sealine Beach to Doha's waterfront.
