The Midland Football League season is to be extended
Midland Football League Secretary Nigel Wood has written to club chairmen on extending the season and wrote:
"As you are all aware, the unprecedented rainfall this winter has led to us experiencing an increased number of postponements and does not appear to be showing signs of relenting in the short term.
With this in mind the Board, in conjunction with the Fixture Secretary, have looked at the possibility of extending the season as vacant midweek dates are now virtually exhausted.
They have all agreed that the season should be extended until Saturday 7th May 2016, however in order to maintain the integrity of the competition by ensuring that all Clubs involved in potential promotion and relegation issues finish their fixtures on the same day this will be achieved by moving ALL Premier Division & Division 1 fixtures arranged for 30th April to Saturday 7th May.
This will also release the dates between 30th April to 5th May available for any further postponements that may occur in the next couple of weeks.
We would like thank all Clubs for being proactive and flexible during the last few weeks and hope that this decision can alleviate some of the pressure that your players and officials are currently under to fulfil fixtures."
