2 Tone Central, the museum, cafe and venue, hosted its first major gig tonight when the Neville Staple band took to the stage.

A sell out gig at the venue based in Coventry University, metres away from where the video for the Specials hit single "Rat Race" was filmed, saw 2-Tone fans from as far away as Poole, Darlington, Lincoln, Kent, Skegness, Leeds, Cardiff, London as well as Coventry & Warwickshire in attendance.

They saw an excellent show from Coventry's Neville Staple, who along with his band performed some Specials songs, one by the Fun Boy Three and other classics such as Pressure Drop.

They were later joined on stage by Ranking Roger, Everett Morton and Sim from The Beat for a few numbers including an excellent Mirror In The Bathroom and Ranking Full Stop before Pauline Black (pictured below), who earlier had played in Luton, got to the stage to play three hits from her time with The Selecter.

2-Tone Central is not just a place where the history of 2-Tone music is celebrated and there will be plenty of local bands as well as 2-Tone bands on over the coming months.
