Nuneaton Town have signed Elliott Whitehouse from FC Halifax Town.
Whitehouse played for Nuneaton last season and told the Nuneaton club website: Elliott said: "My performances for Boro last season earned me a recall to my parent club Notts County and a place in the first team, albeit out of position at right wing back.
"But sadly there was a change of manager there and the new boss wanted to make changes, and I was one of those changes and I found myself without a club.
"The Boro got in touch with me really quickly and told me they wanted me to be Kevin Wilson's first signing.
"I came in and met with Kevin and had a good chat about his vision for the club and what he wants from players, but I decided to accept the offer from Halifax to play in the National Premier Division, but as a part timer.
"Now I know that that decision was a mistake. Being a part time footballer is just not for me. I was training at home on my own all the time, I was working really hard, and also training with the team a few times a week, but I realised that it was not the same as training full time in a team situation.
"I featured in most of the pre-season games for Halifax, but the move to part time really was not working for me.
"I decided that I needed to give full time football another go and told the manager. I had to be honest with him as I did not want to waste a season of my career in a situation that was not right for me.
"He was shocked by it, but he has been very understanding. I have only got good things to say about the people at Halifax, the staff, management, players and fans, but it was not the right fit for me.
"Nothing has left me with a bad taste in my mouth, I just made a wrong decision. I had grown up doing scholarships and then going pro, so I have effectively been a full time footballer for six years, and I did not even contemplate getting another job outside football.
"When I knew there was another chance to join Nuneaton, I did not hesitate to take it. This week has been a long and stressful one while everything has been sorted out, but now it has all gone through hopefully everyone will be happy. I know I am."
