Nuneaton Town have signed defender Jordan Wheatley.

Nuneaton have paid a compensation fee to Ilkeston Town to sign the 18-year-old on a two year deal.

Kevin Wilson said to the Nuneaton Town website about Wheatley; “Jordan played for me at Ilkeston and is an intelligent footballer who knows how to read the game.

“He is keen to learn and take information on board so that he keeps improving. He has the desire and hunger that I expect from players and is ambitious too. I want the club to progress and I want the players to progress, and I’m sure Jordan will help us get to where we want to be.

Wheatley said: “It’s great to be linking up with the gaffer and Steve again. They helped me so much at Ilkeston and I know they can help me develop even further.

“It’s true that I’ve turned down other offers and there is a simple reason for that. I need to continue to play regular men’s football and I don’t think I would have got that opportunity elsewhere.

“I wanted to sign for Nuneaton. I watched them at Boston last season and spoke to a few of the lads and I know it’s a good club. My parents have been to a few games too and also think this is a good move for me.”
