Specials Pick Up NME Award

Iconic Coventry band The Specials picked up an award for 'Outstanding Contribution To Music' tonight at the Shockwave NME Awards at the Brixton Academy.

Blur's Damon Albarn,himself a Specials fan, presented the award to lead singer Terry Hall who said: "This is the most urban award we've ever received, I can't believe how gross it is! Thank you very much."

The Specials then played 'Gangsters' and 'Too Much Too Young' on the main stage to a delighted audience.

The awards will be shown on Channel 4 this Friday night and repeated on T4 on Saturday morning.
