According to Dutch newspaper - destentor.nl, Apeldoorn in north central Holland is favourite to stage the start of the 2016 Giro D'Italia.
The paper claims that the town and the Gelderland province has paid around six million euros to hold the team presentation evening and a prologue in the race organised by RCS.
The race will then have a stage race from Arnhem to Nijmegen before leaving the Netherlands, if various rumours are to be believed.
Martin de Kok, the head of the Apeldoorn organising committee the paper: "The support in Apeldoorn as well as in the province is enormous.
"Now that the province is financially participating, an Apeldoorn start will move to the top of the list at RCS."
Giro D'Italia race organisers RCS are expected to officially announce where the 2016 race will start later in the year.
