Bakelandts Wins The GP De Wallonie

Radio Shack's Jan Bakelandts won the GP De Wallonie.

A strong field including the World Champion Philippe Gilbert who won this race in Belgium in 2011, started this 203.1kms race to Citadelle De Namur.

it was a damp grey day as the riders rolled out from the depart in Chaufontaine and soon Curvers, Warbasse, Le Gac, Terpstra, Jensen, Veuchelen, Claes, Gerard, Hardy &Jerome were forming the first main break of the day.

They were 2.03 clear with 90kms to go which dropped to just over a minute, some forty kilometres later.

Veuchelen attacked with 32kms left as numerous splits started to form. Pardini attacked out of the peloton as did Bakelants and Frank, who were clear with 21kms to go before they were joined by Europcar's Tommy Voeckler.

They stayed clear with, taking a 21 second lead over Kwiatkowksi, Waeytens and Vachon.

Frank was shed but got back to Bakelandts and Voeckler inside the final kilometre as Jan Bakelandts rode to victory ahead of Voeckler, Frank, Vachon, Kwiatkowski, Dumoulin, Waeytens, Chavanel, Simon and Gilbert.
