Coventry darter Steve Beaton is through to the second round after a first round victory in the World Matchplay Championship at Blackpool
The Golden Adonis was drawn against Jelle Klaasen and hit a 180 in the first leg to win that and the second leg.
Klaasen pulled a leg back but Beaton finished on a double eight to go 3-1 up. A second 180 helped Beaten to a fourth leg before Jelle Klaasen won the next two.
A double sixteen finish gave Beaton a fifth leg with Klaasen hitting a fourteen darter.
Beaton took the next three legs and then Klaasen took the following two but Beaton took the next two to move into the second round with a 10-6 win.
