Coventry Bees face Leicester at Brandon tonight (7.30pm).
Meanwhile World Cup winner Krzysztof Kasprzak lines up at No.1 once more in another show of commitment, as the meeting takes place the day before the second round of the Speedway Euro Championship in Latvia.
The Bees have elected not to invoke a full guest facility for Kasprzak in Saturday’s return fixture at Beaumont Park, as to do so would see the Pole incur a 28-day ban as the SEC is not recognised by British authorities.
Promoter Mick Horton said: “We felt it was more important at this stage of the season that our home fans get to see our No.1 rider as much as possible. He wants to be here, and he’s been a good No.1 for the club this year.
“We’re looking forward to Friday’s meeting. I know Leicester have had their problems this year but it’s still a case of bragging rights and a local derby, and I’m sure their riders will want to raise their game.
“With the good news about the stadium for next year we need all the fans to come along, and rest assured we’re looking to build for the future.”
During the interval, Coventry will be holding their annual Elite League collection for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund.
All tracks participate in the collection schedule during the month of August, and riders from both teams will be going into the crowd for donations to a very worthy cause.
