Carlos Betancur of AG2R wrapped up the Tour du Haut Var in France with a second place finish on the second day.
Betancur had won the opening 149.1km stage from Les Cannets des Maures to La Croix Valmer in a two day race held in the Provence region of France.
Betancur had beaten John Degenkolb of Giant-Shimano in a bunch sprint and started the second stage which was 203kms long and started and finished in Draguignan.
BMC's Thor Hushovd, was in the day's break along with Johan Le Bon (FDJ.fr), Jérôme Cousin (Europcar), Romain Hardy, Rudy Molard (Cofidis Solutions Crédits), Florian Vachon (Bretagne-Séché Environnement) and Floris Smeyers (Veranda Willems), and was out on his own on the final climb, the Côte de Tuilières.
Remy Di Gregorio (La Pomme-Marseille) and Fabio Duarte (Colombia) attacked but a group containing Carlos Betancur brought them back inside the final kilometre and the AG2R rider got into a battle with Amaël Moinard of BMC, who took the lead and then took the win in 5.23.30.
Betancur by in finishing second, took the General Classifcation award by a margin of twelve seconds.
Ten seconds after Betancur crossed the line to take his overall victory, Emilen Viennet of FDJ came in third with Tour De France 2011 winner Cadel Evans finishing fourth twelve seconds back.
