Three times Tour De France winner Greg LeMond and Garmin Sharp top man Jonathan Vaughters are amongst the big names supporting a campain group called Change Cycling Now.
The group, which includes anti-doping scientist Dr. Michael Ashenden, cycling trainer Antoine Vayer, Skins chairman Jaimie Fuller, former pro and journalist/author Paul Kimmage and journalist/author David Walsh, with more to follow, are having a conference in London on Sunday and Monday and in a press statement, Lemond, who is now the most successful American in the world's greatest cycling race after Lance Armstrong was stripped of his titles, said: "The Lance Armstrong affair has to be a watershed moment for professional cycling.
"There is still an opportunity to ensure cycling presents itself as a genuine world leader in the elimination of doping in sport.
"But to do that requires a determination to force change and I am delighted to be part of a group that is full of people who are committed for the cause."
