IAM Cycling's Matthias Brandle has beaten Jens Voigt hour record.
Brandle took on the hour record on a 200m long track in Aigle, Switzerland on a Scott Plasma 5 bike and was able to cover 51.852 kilometres in an hour which enough to beat Jens Voigt's record of 51.11kms set on September 18th, subject to ratification from the UCI.
Brandle struggled in the last fifteen minutes to take the record by 700m but kept going and said: "I knew after 30 minutes that I was going to succeed.
"Halfway through, things became more complicated and I started to feel pain. I am very happy with the result."
Sir Bradley Wiggins plus Alex Dowsett and Fabian Cancellera have all expressed an interest in attempting the record.
