Sylvain Chavanel of Omega Pharma Quick Step won the fifth stage of the Eneco Tour.
An individual time trial of 13.2 kilometres starting and finishing in Sittard/Geleen was in stall for the riders, minus Mark Renshaw and Marcel Kittel who has a cold, today.
Favourite for the stage was Sir Bradley Wiggins and the Team Sky did not disappoint the Brits out on the course when he came home in a time of 16.13, averaging 48.798km/h to take an early lead.
Orica Green Edge's Luke Durbridge went second coming in fourteen seconds down on Wiggins time.
Then out of nowhere, Jesse Sergent flew home in a new best time of of 16.08.69. That lasted until Omega Pharma Quick Step's Sylvain Chavanel finished in a time of 16.04
Argos Shimano's Tom Dumoulin moved into second coming home in 16.08.
Last on the road, was home town hero and race leader Lars Boom of Belkin. He could only finish in 16.24 but kept his leader's jersey going into stage six as Chavanel took the win.
