Magnus Cort Nielsen (Team Cult Energy) won the opening stage of the Tour Of Denmark.
The stage was marred by a number of the peloton crashing in the final kilometres of the 180km stage from Silkeborg to Varde. Lotto-Belisol's Lars Bak avoided the crash and went away.
However, inside the final two kilometres, he was caught and Magnus Cort Nielsen (Team Cult Energy) took the win in a time of 4.32.24, beating Nikola Aistrup (Concordia Forsikring - Riwal) and Bak
British Champion Mark Cavendish was 88th, a place behind Andy Fenn who came in 49 seconds down on Nielsen.
