A crowd of 1949 saw Jones kick a second minute penalty before the visitors replied with an eleventh minute Gallagher try which he converted.
Knox ran in a 16th minute try for Cov who scored two tries on the half hour mark through Hamilton and Rundle both of which were converted by Jones.
In the second minute of first half stoppage time, Canty scored a try which Ross converted to see Cov 22-17 up at half-time.
Cov increased their lead through a 45th minute Williams try and one from Jones that he converted seven minutes later.
Blackheath had Sewell and Chapman scored tries, one of which was converted by Ross but Cov went up the other end and scored two more tries through Knox and Randle both of which were converted to win confortably.
