Three times British champion Andy Angell returns to spearhead the Coventry attack as they travel for a crunch encounter to Elite League champions Wednesfield Aces at Ashmore Park this Sunday afternoon (15th May).
Angell, the most successful British rider of the past ten years, missed Coventry`s excellent away success at Poole last month. The 27-year-old Yorkshireman always performs well at the big Wednesfield oval, using his super fitness to gain the upper hand late in races.
He replaces world number 4 Bobby McMillan, who has returned to Australia to renew his visa. McMillan, who rode for Wednesfield in the Elite League last season, will be a big loss for Coventry – the early season Elite League pacesetters.
Coventry will also be missing key man Mike Baldock. The Leicester based rider, who has been very impressive in Coventry`s first two Elite League matches, is currently out of action following a leg operation.
Otherwise, Coventry team manager Lee Marsh announces his strongest side. He has resisted the temptation to track Scottish based Polish star Pawel Idziorek due to doubts on his match fitness. Idziorek is set to feature once race fit.
Marsh said: "McMillan is a big loss but once again our aim – Elite League wise – is to track a competitive Coventry team and we are certainly doing that to date. We completely expect we are in for a tough match at Wednesfield, they have a great history in top flight racing are not rightful champions for nothing".
Coventry team (not in racing order): Ben Higham, Jake Read, Andy Angell, Dan Drewett, Myke Grimes, Adam Watson, Chris Parish, Mason Phillips and Michal Sassek.
