Coventry Bees beat Swindon 53-40 at Brandon tonight.
The Bees were 8-4 up from the first two heats but in heat three, there was a late start and a disqualification for Worrell. Troy Batchelor lost his bike and Chris Harris and Michael Jepsen Jensen then had to ride against each other in a 5-0 for the Bees and a win for Jepsen Jensen.
In heat four, there was another crash which saw Kenneth Hansen end up in the airfence with Greaves disqualified after James Sergeant had taken the lead. Dakota North took on the Bees duo but Hansen won to give Coventry a 4-2 heat win.
Harris and Andersen went for the Bees in Heat Five. Simon Gustafsson stormed ahead to lead but lost it on the third lap and it was Andersen who took the win in another 4-2 to put the Bees 21-8 up.
Batchelor took a tactical ride in heat six for a Swindon side using rider replacement for Peter Kildemand. The Bees had Jepsen Jensen and Hansen ride but they trailed to the Swindon riders who took an 8-1.
Jason Garrity and Howarth went for the Bees in heat seven and on the first lap, Worrell and Garrity went down with the Bees rider hitting the fence. With Worrell not allowed to race again and Nick Morris disqualified, the Bees had another 5-0.with Garrity, the reserve, taking the win to remain unbeaten.
Swindon were unhappy with track conditions and had a team meeting before heat eight which saw Swindon take a 5-1 to make the scores Coventry 28 Swindon 21.
With Greaves excluded under the two minute rule after a problem with his bike, Garrity and Sarjeant went for the Bees. Garrity rode really well to win and give the Bees a 4-2 heat win.
Heat Ten saw Howart and Andersen ride for the Bees against Gustafsson and Batchelor. The Bees got to the front and it was a 5-1 for the Bees who led 37-24.
Nick Morris took the tactical in the heat eleven but a super ride from Chris Harris stopped a 8-1 and Swindon only took a 5-3 win from the heat.
In Heat twelve, Kyle Howarth rode well for the Bees and won in a 3-3 and Swindon eleven points behind with three heats remaining.
Harris and Andersen rode in heat thirteen and Harris won in another 3-3 which meant that Coventry had won the meeting.
Garrity and Sarjeant went in heat fourteen and it was James Sarjeant who won holding off Worrall to give the Bees a 3-3 that meant the Bees who are chasing a play off place took the win.
As Swindon manager Alun Rossiter complained to the Sky camera, The final heat saw Harris and Howarth ride. Harris battled with North and won to give the Bees a 53-40 victory.
Bees boss Gary Havelock said that he was immensely proud of his team and thought that there was still a lot to come from his team.
