Coventry Bees take a eight point lead to Swindon next Monday after a 49-41 Elite League Play-Off Semi-Final First Leg victory.
The Bees had Arron Summers guesting against a full strength Swindon side and had Hans Andersen and Kyle Howarth riding in the opening heat.
Peter Kildemand took the lead on the opening lap and won ahead of Howarth and Andersen in a 3-3.
Jason Garrity took the lead in the second heat but Nathan Greaves and James Sarjeant who had an altercation on Friday night, both put their bikes down and the heat was stopped. Greaves was disqualified but Sarjeant got up and finished third behind Garritty and Worrall to ensure the Bees took a 4-2 win.
Chris Harris and Arron Summers rode in heat three and Harris gated to win in a 3-3.
In Heat four, Garrity and Kenneth Hansen rode against Nick Morris and Greaves and the Bees gated on a 5-1 but Nick Morris squeezed into second place until Hansen got past him and the Bees took a 5-1 to lead 15-9.
Chris Harris and Hans Andersen took the ride in heat five but Gustafsson got away and won ahead of Andersen and Harris in a 3-3.
In Heat six, Summers and Hansen rode but Kildemand and Batchelor gated for a 5-1 to reduce the Bees lead to two points.
Garrity and Howarth went in heat seven, Garrity was shoved out by North but got back past Worrall to give the Bees a 3-3.
Hansen and Garrity took the ride in a re-run heat eight but could not stop Swindon from taking a 4-2, which meant the meeting was now all square at 24-24.
Garrity had his fifth ride of the meeting in heat nine along with Sarjeant. Swindon were on a 5-1 but Sarjeant whilst Garrity went down and the Bees took a 3-3.
The Bees in Howarth and Andersen squeezed out Batchelor to take a 5-1 win and after the track was graded, Summers and Chris Harris went in heat eleven.and took another 5-1 after Dakota North went down.
In heat twelve, Kyle Howarth and Jason Garrity went. Garrity touched the tapes and James Sarjeant came in. Swindon took a 4-2 despite the efforts of Howarth who was all over Steve Worrall.
The Bees led by six points going into heat thirteen and had Andersen and Harris ride against Kildemand and Troy Batchelor who burst into a lead. Harris did well to stay with him but Swindon took a 4-2.
In heat fourteen, Steve Worrall was disqualified, leaving Garrity and Hansen against North. Garrity got round North with Hansen out front and the Bees took a 5-1.
Harris and Hansen took on Kildemand and Batchelor in the final heat with and eight point advantage. Harris got in front to win in a 3-3 and give the Bees a 49-41 first leg victory.
