Coventry Blaze Out Of Continental Cup

Coventry Blaze are out of the Continental Cup after a 3-2 defeat    against GKS Tychy.

Having won their two group games and scored 19 goals in the process, the Blaze took on Polish hosts GKS Tychy, backed by a good following from Coventry, needing a win to go through to the third round.

The Blaze took the lead at the Winter Stadium on 2.35 when Jordan Pietrus netted on the powerplay, assisted by Carl Lauzon and Jim Jorgensen.

Both sides wracked up the penalty points but on 40.52, the Blaze had a second goal when Michael Quesnele scored, assisted by Cale Tanaka and Neil Trimm.

Mateusz Bryk pulled a goal back on 45.13 and on 50.11, Jakub Witecki equalised before the Polish side had a third when Radoslaw Galant netted on 54.24.

The Blaze pulled their net minder Stewart with 1.10 left but they could not get a goal and their Continental Cup adventure was over.
