Coventry Storm have signed Mitchell Davey.
The 26 year old, will make his debut against Birmingham on Sunday and is coming back to racing for the first time since 2013 when he badly broke his leg at Sheffield.
Davey now has a British passport and can ride for both Edinburgh and the Storm and will replace Martin Knuckey, who looks to be out for the remainder of the season after breaking his leg at Mildenhall last month.
Storm boss Laurence Rogers said: “I know it took Mitchell a long time to recover from the leg injury, but he’s been practising regularly and his equipment has always been first-class.
“Once we had permission it was a case of agreeing terms, which took about three minutes, and then Mitchell checking his situation in that he would be eligible to try and get Premier League rides as well.
“Dan (Greenwood) had seen it as well about the passport, and he was straight on to say Mitchell would be a good signing, so that’s Dan doing his captain’s role which is good to see.
“Obviously he’ll be looking to score well for us, and if he can do that he will also be putting himself in the shop window for the Premier League.
“It’s a great relief for us to have him in, as the last few weeks have shown that rider-replacement for a heat-leader really doesn’t work for us.”
